As April showers bring May flowers and we welcome back our seasonal residents, the East Shore Internet Society (ESIS) is responding to requests from subscribers by creating a new service called the Lite package. The Lite package will be introduced May 1st and will take the place of the former “Away” package, with the added benefit of some connectivity: 2.5 Mbps download speed, 1.5 Mbps upload, with an included data package of 10 GB per month. This often-requested feature is intended to provide connectivity to “Internet of Things” devices such as home security systems.
The Lite package is being introduced at a price of $25 per month, with standard overage rates applicable to data usage over 10 GB in a month. As always, our automated systems give plenty of warning (by email) before data overage fees are incurred. There will be no limit to the number of months that the Lite package can be subscribed to. The Unlimited Data add-on will not be applicable to the Lite package.
Policy is shifting a little around service package changes, too. When upgrading from one ESIS package to another mid-month – for example if you received a notice that your data usage is trending towards overage on your current package – subscribers pay the new rate of the upgraded package in full, rather than it being pro-rated. For example, if you are on the Bronze package ($50) and you call to upgrade your service to Copper ($70), you would pay the $70 for the month (+tax), giving you a speed boost and a better deal on the data than if you got overage charges ($1 per GB) with the Bronze package. You’ll find that there’s a certain data usage point at which it makes sense to upgrade. While not all connections are eligible for Silver and Gold service (line of sight is required), the Unlimited Data add-on is an attractive option. All ESIS packages are listed on our website here: http://www.eastshoreinternet.ca/packages/
ESIS is also happy to announce our 2019 Annual General Meeting which will take place on Monday June 17th at 7:00pm at the Crawford Bay Hall. All community members are welcome to attend, while an ESIS membership with active service is required to vote for new board members.
Happy Spring! from the ESIS Board of Directors and staff.
