East Shore Internet Society (ESIS) will provide you or your business with end user equipment for the purpose of connecting to our Internet Service. The equipment will be selected by ESIS at the time of the installation based on your home or business needs. The equipment will consist of one Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), and the device(s) necessary to power the CPE. The applicable charges for the CPE and installation costs for the Internet Service are identified at the time the Service is ordered. ESIS may, in its sole discretion, change or modify the rates you are charged for the Internet Service. ESIS will notify you of any changes to this agreement by posting notice of such changes on our website (for minor changes) or by sending notice via email (for major changes, including rate changes).
Conditions of Use
East Shore Internet Society (ESIS) is a small community owned and operated Non-Profit Internet Service Provider (ISP). ESIS’s Internet Service is a shared system, so we need to stress that ESIS internet users show respect to the other users in the system by not leaving high-bandwidth programs running when you are not using those programs (e.g.: torrents, Netflix). This will help to ensure that all ESIS internet users can have a fast internet connection.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER ARE YOU PERMITTED TO RESELL, SHARE, OR OTHERWISE DISTRIBUTE THE SERVICES OR ANY PORTION THEREOF TO ANY THIRD PARTY. For example, you cannot provide Internet access to others through a dial-up connection, provide internet access to others through use of a router / LAN, host shell accounts over the Internet, provide email or news service, or send a news feed. You may not run a server in connection with the ESIS Service nor may you provide network services to others via the ESIS Service. Examples of prohibited servers and services include, but are not limited to, mail, http, ftp, irc, dhcp servers, and multi-user interactive forums.
The residential ESIS Service is designed for personal Internet use. The Platinum and High Volume services may be used for commercial purposes.

Wireless radio connections effective January 1, 2017
* Equipment Rental Fee: Includes $10.00 monthly equipment rental fee.
** Overages & Extra Data: Additional charges of $1.00/GB apply for any usage over the monthly bandwidth limit.
*** Static IP: Add a static IP to any package. $30 setup fee.
**** Line-of-Sight: In order to receive advertised speed, this package requires a clear line-of-sight connection between subscriber and tower site — no trees or other obstacles.
Typical installations cost $100 (price effective April 1st, 2017), which covers materials and installer’s time.
Our service relies heavily on a clear line of sight to our distribution towers. Your installer can determine the best setup for you during a site survey. Some extraordinary installations require an extra mast, very long cable, or interior cable runs (our typical cable run takes place on the building exterior), etc.. In such cases, additional charges may apply. Extra charges would be cleared with you prior to the work being done.
Installation includes configuring your computer or router for use on the ESIS network so that you’re up and surfing before we leave. It does not include any computer servicing or repair that may be required to get it online, though the installer often can offer that service additionally for a fee. It is recommended that you run complete anti-virus and anti-spyware scans with up to date software on your computer prior to installation. Also, if you require a network card or would like a wireless router the installer may carry these parts for sale.
If you do not have your own wireless router, ESIS has two types of routers for sale: $60.00 for the smaller and $90.00 for the larger variety. You will need to pay for the router at the time of your installation or before. Please note that once installed and working, you are responsible for the routers ongoing maintenance.
As a new subscriber, costs will include:

- One month *security deposit at your package rate (e.g. if you choose the Bronze package, your security deposit will be $50)
Here’s an example of a pre-install invoice for first-time Bronze Package subscriber:

* Security deposit: Held on an account until you choose to cancel your ESIS subscription. The deposit will only be used to clear outstanding bills IF there are outstanding amounts on your account. If your account is in good standing and has no outstanding charges, your deposit is refunded at the time of cancellation.

Here’s an example invoice for first-time Bronze Package subscriber:

You represent and warrant that you have reached the age of 18 and that you possess the legal right and ability to enter into this agreement and use the service in accordance with the agreement.
ESIS sends bills for our services by email, and we need a valid email address that you check regularly for this purpose. Invoices and statements are sent out in PDF format; PDF readers are available as free downloads on the Internet. You can pay online at Kootenay Savings Credit Union.

Make sure that your account number is on the cheque. You may also pay in advance on a quarterly or yearly basis. No discounts are available for prepayment.
If we terminate your service for reasons outside the Terms of Service agreement, we will refund the unused portion of your account balance. Customers who are behind in payments the equivalent of three months’ fees are subject to having their service disconnected without notice. Re-connection will require payment of all outstanding bills in full, plus a $30 re-connection fee.
Going Away? Pause Your Account.
We provide subscribers who are away for at least 30 consecutive days the possibility of suspending their service. A $20/month account fee applies.
To do so:
- Before your departure, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
- In your email, please provide your departure and return dates (duration must be at least 30 days)
- Upon your return, contact the office and we will reconnect your service and billing.
- Unless email@example.com is notified prior to departure, your regular package invoice will be issued.
- The new $20/month rate applies for any absence of 30 days or more, with a departure date after April 1st, 2017.
- There is a $100 maximum which assumes a consecutive 6 month away duration. If you are absent for greater than 8 months, your equipment will be removed from the house and you will be responsible for the $100+ cost to reinstall the equipment if you wish to reconnect with ESIS upon your return.
At ESIS the security and integrity of our customers’ personal information is important to us. We take every reasonable measure necessary to protect the privacy of our customers while providing the high level communication services they expect. ESIS’s privacy practices are in accordance with all federal and provincial laws and regulations and where applicable with the privacy rules established by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC).
ESIS has in place privacy and security practices to safeguard our customers’ personal information. Personal information collected by ESIS is information about an identifiable individual that may include such information as your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, financial information, birth date and any recorded complaints. ESIS does not use or disclose personal information for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law. ESIS retains personal information only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes. ESIS tries to ensure that customer information is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
